to get back to your "normal count" just divide by the number of cards that have passed
kc (b): 1d-+2,2d-+1,6d--4,8d--6 - since IRC=4-4D, if TC(RC/CP)<8-4D (for CP>0.5CC),wait for shuffle (cp = cards played, cc = total cards
bankroll: 200xMIN-BET(400)(100) gives you an 75%(90%)(65%) chance of doubling your money (so @$5, $1000) in 1300(10000)(1000) hands

  • The card is ready for all deck counts from 1 to 6. The "front" has Surrender (SR) and Pair (PR) rules. The "back" has Soft Totals (ST) and Hard Totals (HT) rules. Not all tables allow surrender, so be ready to skip this section.
  • Look across the top to find the dealer's visible card, and then down to your hand.
  • If you have a pair, check the Pair rules first, which will only tell you whether or not to split.
  • The next step is to start counting. Look at every card that passes (in all hands, including the dealer's). Each card has a value. The 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are all worth 1. The 8 and 9 are worth 0. The tens, face cards, and aces are all worth -1. Keep a running sum in your head.
  • Now, the first thing we will do with this information is change our betting - notice the columns on both sides of the card. Find the area that corresponds to the number of decks you are playing with. You will see, for example, that in single deck, you should bet the minimum while the count is less than or equal to 0, but if it goes positive, you should bet the count times the minimum. So, if the minimum is $10 a hand, and the count is +2, you should bet $20.
  • Another small note is when to take insurance - as you can see, if the count is +2 for 4D or less, you should take insurance.
  • Now, if you examine your card carefully, you'll notice that sometimes the letter in the box is in ITALICS. This is important. What it means is: if the count is +2 or MORE, you should NOT do what the letter says. Let's look at a few examples: On the front, the pair 8,8 versus a ten/face says P (split) but it is in italics, so if the count were +4, you would NOT split (because with +4, you may have a good shot at 2 18's, but the dealer also has a good chance of hitting 20). Let's look at another - if you have T,T and the dealer has a 5, but the count is +3, you should SPLIT! I know, people say never split 10s. These people also lose all their money, so you can listen to them, or you can listen to me. The idea is that P/Y becomes N, H/D becomes S when the count is high. If you sit at a 1- or 2-deck blackjack table alone and follow this, you should be able to make about 10*M per hour (so, if you're playing $10 hands, $100)
  • The card remains the same for all decks except we italicize more boxes when playing single deck (note these at the bottom of the back column - they are listed as X/YvZ/A which is for X decks, if you have Y and the dealer has Z, Add or Remove the italics). On the front, the splitting rules change slightly if there is no double after split (I have never seen this rule in my life).
  • Last note: you will note that 16vT is UNDERLINED - because this is a very special box. The number quoted varies (some say -9, some say -2) but at some point, you should NOT hit 16vT. This will get lots of grunts from the table if you lose, but it actually pays off more to just sit on it and hope for a small dealer hole card.
