Saatva Mattress

The Other Place You Spend A Third of Your Life

Besides work, getting a good night's rest on a bed is the thing you spend more time doing than anything else. It is crucial to have a good mattress. I consider myself extremely lucky that thus far, I have not had back troubles, never needed to visit a chiropractor or get special creams or rubs or even a massage. And I know that I am not the average or common case here.

So I am taking a moment to recommend you consider a Saatva mattress the next time you are in the market for a mattress. I ended up getting an adjustable split twin king bed in August 2021 and absolutely love it. First, with 3 firmness options to choose from, we each got the exact bed we wanted (and both sides originally had the same firmness, but you have 180 days to swap anytime for a simple $100 fee). Both sides of the bed come with an independent fully adjustable frame that can raise the head almost vertical and the foot at least a foot upwards. Additionally there are multiple massage settings as well as a "weightless" mode that supposedly takes all the stress off your back. After 500+ nights on this bed, I am still extremely satisfied.

It's not cheap. The prices from $1000 to $2300 for the Classic (which is what I selected), but the Solaire (like a Sleep Number) is around double. They also have a full memory foam, a partial memory foam, latex, youth, and the HD model for "bigger bodies" although I'm 6' 4" and 260 pounds and the Classic suits me just fine, so I don't know how big they are talking here. And all that is JUST the mattress, then you need another $1000 to $2000 for the adjustable base (and a modest 20% price bump for the massage capability). So all in, it might be almost $5000 for this setup. But, the mattress has a warranty for at least a decade, or maybe two. The base has a 5 year warranty for almost anything, and then another 20 for some specific issues. That whole bowling ball test is a joke because it's actually two separate beds - I can jump around on mine and the the other side doesn't feel anything.

Anyway, I'm not in any way being paid, and I have no affiliate link here at all, I'm just sharing that I really like this bed, and amortized over a decade, $500 a year for a great night's rest is peanuts - not even $2 a day. There is also a showroom in NYC if you want to bounce around on the beds yourself before you buy, I definitely did this. Saatva Classic.
